I walk with the wolf.
We move swiftly as we are chased by the hunter.
How does the wolf feel when his home is being destroyed?
Does he even know? Will he find a new place to live? Will he survive?
Will the hunter ever realize what terror his destruction causes?
As I walk along the stone wall, a chipmunk stares at me.
His glance is one of bewilderment.
He does not understand why his place has been taken away.
The bulldozer doesn’t care how deeply its blade cuts.
The hunter says it is for the betterment of man.
The hunter says the chipmunk and the wolf can find new homes.
The hunter says the turtles and the birds can find new homes.
What will happen when these creatures can no longer find new homes?
I am sad today. The hunter has come to scrape the land bare.
When will the hunter realize his error?
Perhaps, for the betterment of man, we must all walk with the chipmunk and the wolf.
